After your child's been diagnosed with a behavioral or mental health issue, you may not know what to do next. Pelican Bayou Counseling Agency Inc. can help. 

We'll meet with the patient to see if they're a good fit for our services. If so, we'll begin an ongoing rehabilitation program to help them live a full, healthy life. 

You can count on Pelican Bayou to get your child through a crisis because:

MST is a an evidence based, 3-5 month intensive in home family counseling program that connects parents with the tools and resources needed to improve communication and strengthen the family unit. 

Counselors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide in home support to families. Our goal is to keep children and families safe, and prevent out of home placement.

Pelican Bayou takes pride in our individualized approach to mental health treatment. With experienced counselors and frequent visits, we can:
 

• Diminish physical and verbal aggression

• Alleviate depression and anxiety

• Increase functionality and independence 

Family functional therapy can bring stability back into your home, and your child's life. Pelican Bayou Counseling Agency Inc. will develop a strong support system within your family, so your child will feel safe seeking help from you in the future. 

This short-term program spans five months and usually focuses on youths aged 11-18.

MST Focus is on youth with behaviors at risk for out of home placement. MST Counselors work in the home visiting families at least twice a week. These counselors work to:

• Strengthen family relationships, empowering parents to monitor, protect, and advocate for their children

• Develop behavior plans that are monitored and review weekly to encourage responsible behavior

• Examine roles of school, peers, DYFS, probation, and/or the community and their impact on the family unit

• Develop unique personalized interventions to provide significant sustainable change

Environmental factors, traumatic life events and changes in medication can all lead to a psychiatric crisis. During a crisis, your loved one may act out, shut down or endanger themselves.

• Working with welfare facilities and parole offices

MST has proven effective in helping youth with disrespect, disobedience, drug/alcohol problems, excessive school truancy, running away, and criminal activity.

The MST program provides therapy for youth as aftercare to Camden Group Home, JJC Aftercare, Parole, and Camden Juvenile Probation. This program is a partnership with MST services from the Medical University of South Carolina.
